Horse in Profile

A sketch by “Sketch”

This sketch, created by Drew "Sketch" Miller, an incarcerated artist, is a monochromatic depiction of a horse in profile, showcasing the majestic animal's head and upper neck. The horse's features are rendered with a mix of precise lines and loose, flowing strokes. The eyes are detailed and expressive, conveying a sense of calm and gentleness. The mane is depicted with sweeping lines, giving it a sense of movement as if caught in a breeze. The sketch captures the texture of the horse's coat through subtle shading, adding depth and dimension. The use of various shades of black and gray creates a striking contrast, making the details of the horse stand out against the pale background.

This piece highlights the artist's ability to balance realism with a touch of abstraction, showcasing both the physical form and the serene and calming spirit of these gentle giants.

What (sketch) said of the piece :
“Sent some animal sketches 'cause my usual stuff that I sell to the other guys here isn’t E-rated.  With this type of drawing, it’s for the people with families. This one isn’t as polished since I also did a unicorn, and that one got picked instead.  Never seen a horse in real life.  I just draw from pictures in magazines and old westerns on TV.”
