autumn fey

A collaborative piece by Shroom Squirrel Originals and Michael Lauderdale

"Autumn Fey" features a captivating and melancholic portrait of a mystical figure with an ethereal and otherworldly presence. The central focus is a close-up of a woman's face, characterized by large, expressive eyes that convey deep emotion. Her gaze is intense, drawing the viewer into the artwork's poignant atmosphere.

Her hair, interwoven with leaves and branches, creates a seamless blend with the surrounding environment, symbolizing a deep connection to nature. The leaves are rendered in various shades of autumnal colors, such as oranges, browns, and hints of gold, emphasizing the season of fall. This foliage appears to be both part of her hair and the background, adding to the surreal and dreamlike quality of the piece.

The delicate, flowing lines and soft transitions between colors contribute to the overall ethereal effect, making the artwork feel like a moment frozen in time. The combination of natural elements with the human form creates a harmonious yet somber depiction of autumn, evoking themes of change, loss, and the passage of time.

This piece is a hybrid fantasy painting inspired by Mike's "Bolt from the Blue”

What Squirrel said of the piece: “When I was little, I loved to draw ‘bowl head’ people with wide heads and huge eyes. They had tiny wisps of hair and little noses, they looked pretty weird. Some folks praised the drawings (very kind of them to spare the feelings of a child), others teased me for them. Looking at this piece, I still see the same thing I saw then in my minds eye, but now I can express it a little better.”
