Saturday Morning

Saturday Morning

This piece was an experiment to see how well certain up-cycled materials would work as a base for a painting. I love making use of what would otherwise end up in a landfill to create something new.

The small, blue-colored, smooth patch was a happy accident. I glued a piece of a smooth cardboard, wrong side up, which happened to have writing on it. I layered the paint several times to cover up the lettering, and wound up with an extremely cool texture difference.

The yellow dabs are meant to add color and joy to the piece, as are the leaves, which are textured with delicate flowers and were part of a birthday card from long ago.

Medium: Acrylic paint over up-cycled layers of cardboard, the leaves are made from card stock.
