The Keys
The longer title is “None of the Keys Worked”.
This is part of a series of paintings that have deep personal meaning for me. Each one contains a rings with various designs on them. The rings are my version of a dream-catcher, with my thoughts suspended within.
All have wings, which represent my willingness to put myself out there. They also allow me to fly away from the troubles in my life; a blessing and a curse.
The backgrounds are unique. I just feel the colors as I paint them. I am slightly color blind so I rely on my feelings more than I do with color theory, How it makes me feel as I paint is a big deal to me.
This painting, with the heart-shaped lock-box is an analogy for my heart. I am still in search of finding the key to unlock it. The key that opens my heart is missing.
Medium: Acrylic and oil paints over up-cycled packing materials, backed by recycled cardboard.
